1.  Once a queen of the western approaches
     She ruled the seas with an iron hand
     No one dared venture near her castles

2.  Grace O'Malley and her Clew Bay pirates
     Made a pact with the lords so grand
     To rob the ships of their Spanish bullion
     Granuaile, queen of Ireland

3.  So she went to the queen of England
     For sanctuary for her evil band
     In return she'd send gold and jewels
     Granuaile, queen of Ireland

4.  Once too many she sunk the English
     They tracked her down on her Mayo sand
     Withdrew her heart as she gazed at Achill
